Gene and cell therapies (GCTs) have the potential to transform the lives of patients and revolutionize the way we manage diseases and healthcare. They are highly innovative therapies that aim to prevent, stop, or reverse disease progression by addressing its root cause – and to make the treatment of presently untreatable diseases possible.

What We Offer

Going beyond, together.

The center will be unique in Europe. Home to a cutting-edge incubator and a state-of-the-art production facility, its combination of infrastructure and consulting services optimally supports startups – from research to realization.

The Incubator is an area where startups receive support for their work in the preclinical and clinical development stages. Spanning a large 5,000 square meters, the Incubator is fully equipped with ready-to-use labs, private offices, joint working areas, and conference rooms.

Thanks to an in-house, state-of-the-art Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) production facility, startups are empowered to tackle the challenges of manufacturing and regulatory compliance. Eight production rooms, totaling 3,500 square meters, provide the supportive space startups need to bring their therapies from concept to clinic and beyond.

We offer consultation services in many areas: from entrepreneurship and business development, to regulatory affairs, clinical development, and more. Venturing into GCT means stepping into the unknown and exploring ways to treat disease differently, which makes collaboration in this field essential.

The center is located in the heart of Berlin’s Nordhafen, neighboring the Bayer campus and Charité, and scheduled to open in 2028 . Berlin is home to a huge startup scene – giving access to a rich pool of skilled professionals and scientists, major hospitals and research institutions, and enabling the circulation and cross-fertilization of ideas.

Furthermore, the center will host Co.Lab Berlin, which will further strengthen this ecosystem and offer a pathway for growth for maturing companies of the Co.Lab. Already opening in November 2024, Co.Lab Berlin is accepting tenancy application from startups today.
